If we have faith in Old Wives’ Tales then we might believe that eating an apple a day will keep the doctor away. But other lore says that eating one on Christmas Eve will allow you to harvest beautiful energies of peace, prosperity, love and light all throughout this next New Year! Tradition tells that eating an apple anytime after the sun sets on Christmas Eve will stem any ill will or bad luck that you’ve been suffering, replacing it with a healthy bite of Health, Happiness and Prosperity, the Three Great Blessings of Feng Shui. Some say that this custom originated as an Eastern or Oriental tradition because those cultures eat apples on Christmas Eve in order to manifest both fortune and luck. And then there is an old Lithuanian custom that says that the Christmas Eve dinner must include a plate of regionally grown apples. These fruits represent first parents Adam and Eve, as this day is additionally considered their feast day as well. The apples also recall the ‘New Eve,’ or the person we know as Mary, the mother of Christ. According to that custom, everyone should gather to share this sacred meal as soon as the first star is seen in the night sky, yet another foreshadowing on the whole ‘eating an apple after the sun sets’ idea! Other customs state that eating an apple on Christmas Eve will grow the seeds of happiness in your house while also offering some blooming beautiful skin! No matter how you slice it, eating an apple on this day will offer an orchard of the blessings of luck!
